The new range of nylon training swords produced by the Knight Shop in the UK will be out shortly. We are planning on placing a substantial order as these will become the AHF's stamdard sparring weapons for 2010. If you are interested please put your name down here.

Information from the Knight Shop:
Our new range of Nylon Sparring Swords promises to be the best on the market.
They are fast and flexible enough for hard thrusting (with protection) but do not suffer from the blade wobble that other synthetic sparring sword do. As they are manufactured from Nylon they are much more durable and resistant to heat than their Polypropylene counterparts offered by other manufacturers.
For safety in sparring they are lighter than steel swords but are still twice the weight of most commercially available wooden wasters.
This range has been extensively tested and is endorsed by Dave Rawlings of the Boars Tooth Fight School.
This range is wholly manufactured in the U.K. and is due for release December 2009.

I would definately like a longsword! Perhaps a single-hander too but I'll see how Christmas go's before ordering that

PS- if the manufacturers can put a bit of black dye in the nylon mix the swords will come out in a realistic grey. This would look better than white and won’t do anything to the mechanical properties (or there is always dylon).

PPS- if they can do them dyed then glow in the dark longswords could be fun in a nerdy Star Wars way. Glow in the dark powder for plastic casting is sold by a company called glowtec.

The single biggest problem here is that if they are grey they may start to look like imitatino swords or even worse, larp swords! i know this is something they are trying hard to avoid. Interesting idea on the glowtec.

Here is a pic of the production nylon swords.

The order for these swords has now been placed. We expect them to be here in approx 4 weeks. Please can you make sure you pay for them as soon as possible. The confirmed price is £40 per sword.

Can you post a review of these once you have tried them out in anger please.


Also should be able to rub the nylon to create a charge which can then be used to deflect a stream of water - swords that function as an umbrella!! yay

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. The routine operation I mentioned to you previously turned into some major surgery. Anyway I hope to be back soon, if only to do some light training/sparring. Though unfortunately I doubt I'll be fully fit enough in time for the tournament.

The nylons are due to be shipped at the end of this week (friday), so we will hopefully be fighting with them within a week or two! As a quick reminder, if you have ordered one of these and not paid me yet, please do so, as I covered the bill with my own card. So far 23 out of I think a total of 43 have been paid for, meaning I am owed around £800, seeing as I have just had to order new sofas, the money would be appreciated asap

Please look at the first post, I have added a list of everyone who has paid. If for some reason you have paid and I have not added you to that list, let me know. As far as I can see I am owed for about 12 swords now. Thanks all to those who have brought money in for me, thats made my bank account much happier!

News on the nylons, they are delayed another week, they notified everyone today. This is bloody annoying, but there is absolutely nothing we can do about it, everyone in the world is waiting impatiently for these just like us. On another note, this first batch were done at a pre-order price, hence why I paid the bill upfront myself to ensure we got that price, they are now £47 each. I do hope to get a decent club discount from them, and will endeavour to keep prices down for future purchases, I think somewhere between £42-£45.

hi all have been sidelined with knee problems hope to be up to drilling by the end of march. can you please put me down for a longsword and a single hander. i am in new zealand at present and will not be back till the beginning of march so if you need money sooner leave ordering till i get back

The order is all done now and the pre-order price was only till the end of January. I am sure we will be placing another order soon after these arrive, and our club discount should mean they only work out a few pounds more, I will add them on to the next order.

BUT, they have started! I have been in the factory today and watched them coming off the moulds.

We start shipping the first batch tomorrow and will hopefully have dispatched everybody's orders by the end of the week.

They will be dispatched in date order so the earlier you placed your order the sooner you will receive them.
