The Academy of Historical Fencing is based in South Wales and the South West of England. We currently train in Newport (Caerleon Sports Hall) and Bradley Stoke (Leisure Centre). We are hoping to be starting a new school in Filton (Bristol) later in the year. Visit the clubs page for more information. The school is run by a group of like minded martial artists looking to develop their skills and knowledge in a safe and relaxed environment whilst also sharing knowledge with like minded people.
The school has over 100 members and instructors with a variety of skills, knowledge and expertise in different weapon forms, combat and research. We teach armed and unarmed combat in the English, German and Italian traditions. We use longswords, sword & buckler, side sword, rapier, dagger, messer, sword & shield , quarterstaff and broadsword combat. We train with both synthetic and steel weapons and armour is always worn for sparring.
